Welcome to Metro Coder

Hi, I'm Jason Ong. Welcome to the first blog post of Metro Coder!

This blog is dedicated to my adventures in software development. Previously, I used to blog stuff on software development in my personal blog.

Coming up with a name for this blog proved to be a challenge! I finally settled for the name Metro Coder as it fits nicely with my profile as a developer from metropolitan Kuala Lumpur. Secondly, I think the word "Metro" is hip as it happens to be in reference with the Metro design language. Incidentally, I write Metro style apps.

About Me — the Metro Coder

I first got my taste of programming in 1986. Back then, I didn't have a personal computer of my own. I took Apple Logo and Applesoft BASIC classes on the Apple II platform in high school. It was not until late 1988 that my dad got me my first PC and it was an Atari ST. I picked up GFA BASIC for the Atari ST on my own and I can say I developed my passion for programming from there.

I hold a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Ole Miss. I'm also a Microsoft Certified Professional.
